Home Again...

Wow...I don't think there are words in the world to come close to describing the wonderful time we have had travelling in Canada and the Northwest USA...5 weeks of breathtaking, majestic, awesome, fascinating scenery, warm, welcoming people and communities, intriguing practices, tiny towns, big cities...driving on the wrong side of the road...and WATER, so much water..Lakes, rivers, dams that we kept saying we wish we could bring home and have in our paddock! I've never seen so much water away from a coastline! Wow. Again...

This is one of three photos (from the 1200 or so I took!) that prove I was on this holiday! My thanks to the nice man from Texas who snapped this of Alan & I in front of Lake Moraine - not far from Banff...The water really is that blue...the colour is courtesy of the glaciers that feed the lake. Beautiful beyond expression!

I am at a complete loss as to how to choose which photos to put here for you...for today, a shot taken from a helicopter that we flew over the Rockies in - again, no words for that experience!! We flew up to about 9200 feet, crested a mountain, which fell away beneath us on the other side...no roller coaster ride I've ever been on could come close to matching that stomach lurch! Our pilot took us up over a glacier, and then down the mountainside to fly past it, seeing right into the crevices and cracks...incredible...This shot is over the top. Man, those mountains go on and on and on....

Last treat for today is Bambi!! We'd been in Yellowstone National Park for not more than 15 minutes when we happened upon this herd of Elk...Mum's and babies along the river (which is between us and the elk). As we came and went out of the park a few more times we found this little group hung out around this spot and saw quite a bit of them...The bull elk were nowhere to be seen, but we did stumble across a couple of awesome specimens as our exploring continued...Watch this space!

Thanks Kym...it is good to be back. Nothing like your own bed (in spite of the fact that we had really good beds everywhere we stayed!) And man, was I missing those young men of mine!!
