Feathers and Rust

Today I'm practicing work avoidance...who wants to dust and sweep and pay the men's wages when there are a heap of photos in the camera from an afternoon wander, just waiting to be viewed on the big screen? This feather is from one of the guinea fowl I talked about yesterday, just hanging around on the horse yard rail. I'm always fascinated that they look so glossy and smooth, yet the feathers are mostly fluff.

I had a bit of a play yesterday afternoon with aperture settings after being inspired by Ree on thepioneerwoman.com. This girl takes beautiful photos of her life on the ranch, her kids, her cooking (which, by the way, looks wonderful!) and assorted other stuff. (Thanks for putting me onto this blog Fleur!)
