Not Your Average Driveway...

It's wet in these parts...real wet. See the road behind the Toyota, the road that disappears into the water? That's the road into our home - our "front drive". We took this pic a couple of weeks ago. If that vehicle were parked in the same place today, it would be under metres of water. Yep, it's wet. "Dig out your floaties and life jacket" wet. "Grow webbed toes" wet. "Go stark raving mad" wet!

And rainy...

And our road to home looks like this. Fortunately, we have another road - one that looks just like this one - that we can get out of here on. In fact that's really fortunate, because we haven't been able to drive out our 'front' drive for months...and if it keeps raining like this, I suspect we won't be travelling down that road anytime before Easter. Seriously!

Maybe you remember earlier in the year, when we had a huge flood? Well, this flood has been almost as big as that was.

Wet weather has some interesting impacts on life around here... eventually it gets too wet to go mustering and the cattle yards become way too wet to work cattle in. Trucks really can't get in or out, and it becomes difficult to do too much at all, besides some maintenance in the shed. My 'boys' get antsy, bored, frustrated and start to look like this...

They come inside, looking for food to distract them - today , it was pikelets, I'm almost certain there'll be a request for scones tomorrow.  Which might cause that troubled expression above to cross my face! I've read that in the deep winter in parts of the world that get lots of snow, people can get Cabin Fever. Now, we don't have a cabin, but everyone around here is beginning to get a little feverish...

On the upside...our backyard is sooo green! (By the way, can anyone tell me how to rescue that sad Gardenia in the foreground? All her leaves are turning yellow...and as a gardener, I make I great artist!)

My Nana used to tell people "Tracey doesn't even live on a street - she lives in the middle of a paddock!"
Well, Nana, it's starting to look a lot like I live in the middle of a puddle! And that long driveway of ours hasn't thrown up a cloud of dust in a long time...But...our cows are getting fat with all this green grass, our dams are full (overflowing, technically) our rainwater tanks likewise. My garden is becoming very leafy and lush, with lots of fresh, new growth. When it dries out, we'll have wonderful sub soil moisture to plant some crops on...there is much to be thankful for...But can I please get a leave pass from the kitchen?

Being thinking about you and wondering how you are faring in this weather? It is lovely but our town dam is still not full yet so sorry we would like a little more over here. But we can do that without you getting any more.
Merry Christmas Tracey and I hope for a dry one but it's not looking good. We're heading up to Rocky for a big family christmas (my side). Expecting 44 for lunch but if all that water comes down. We may be there for a little longer than Christmas. Hahaha. God Bless and see you in the New Year. Cheers Gail :-)))

I've b een wondering how you are faring as well. I am glad we are not quite as wet as that up here, but I am sick and tired of the constant rain! Have a wonderful Christmas. Cheers, Robin

Hi Tracey...it's been awhile since I came by and my oh my there is a lot going on over in your neck of the water logged pasture with new pups, wild pig tusks, fabulous studio shots and the new gallery page...which is such a good idea...you are clearly busy beyond baking scones for the kings and princes...
May the new year surround you with just the right mix of sun and showers to keep everything growing beautifully.
Happy New Year!!
